The Mission Clinic NOW! - Panama

Panama is the intersection of the world. The world uses the Panama Canal to communicate.
Panama, then, is a nation comfortable with international exchange.

God has chosen this portion of the globe to begin his work through Mission Clinics. There is a
great need in Panama. As in many nation economies, there exists a great disparity among the
wealthy and the poor. Panama City as the capital city has great wealth and the services of a
modern city. In the more remote areas of the country, however, many struggle to meet even basic needs.

In rural areas, many survive weeks without a reliable water supply during the three-month dry
season. Much of the available water is contaminated, causing health problems. Many families
struggle to find adequate food and clothing. Education level is low. Access to health care is
limited, primarily due to geography. Many die of easily treatable illnesses or injuries simply
because they cannot reach points of care.

Mission Clinic Higueronal is located in East Panama, approaching the Darien Province and the
Columbia border. In Panama many call the Darien Province “The Forgotten Province,” due to its scattered population and few resources. The Mission Clinic’s location in Higueronal makes it a resource for much of the population of East Panama.
